1800 Cristalino Anejo Tequila is a modern interpretation of aged tequila that combines traditional maturation with post-ageing filtration. Produced by Jose Cuervo under the 1800 brand, it begins as an anejo tequila made from 100% blue Weber agave and aged in oak barrels. After maturation, the tequila is charcoal filtered to remove colour while retaining much of the character developed during ageing.
This "cristalino" style reflects a more recent trend within tequila, where producers aim to bridge the gap between aged and unaged expressions. By filtering the tequila after ageing, the result is a clear spirit that maintains elements of barrel influence while presenting a cleaner, more refined appearance. The 1800 version is positioned as a premium offering within the range, combining traditional production methods - such as slow cooking of agave and double distillation - with a contemporary finishing process that has become increasingly popular in the category.
