Calvados

Calvados is to apple brandy as Cognac is to traditional brandy. The name designates apple brandy produced only in the Calvados departement of France, noted for it's excellent climate for apple orchards. Within the Calvados area, the appellation of Pays d'Auge denotes Calvados only produced in the east of the region, an area of prized soils and excellent land. Calvados Pays d'Auge is crafted to more rigorous regulations to highlight its exceptional qualities.
