Description

Description:

Akriotou 'Orivatis' Old Vine Savatiano from Sterea Ellada is a captivating Greek white wine that showcases the best of Central Greece's unique terroir. Crafted by esteemed oenologist Vasiliki Akriotou, this wine is born from old Savatiano vines, aged between 40 and 60 years, grown at elevations of up to 320 metres on the steep, challenging slopes at the foot of Mount Kitheronas. The vineyard's combination of cold winters, hot summers, and long sunny autumns, along with the cooling mountain breezes, allows the grapes to achieve perfect ripeness and complexity, resulting in a wine that beautifully balances richness with vibrant freshness. Grown with traditional Gobelet pruning and vinified with precision and care, 'Orivatis' is a true expression of Greece's mountainous terrain, produced in small batches to ensure character and authenticity.

Tasting Notes
Appearance:
Pale straw-yellow in the glass, with shimmering clarity that hints at the freshness to follow.

Nose:
The bouquet is intensely aromatic, opening with rich layers of ripe pineapple, peach, and quince. Accents of creamy vanilla intertwine with an intriguing floral lift reminiscent of Turkish delight. Underpinning the fruit are subtle mineral and salty notes, evoking the wine's mountainous origins.

Palate:
Dry and beautifully balanced, the palate reveals mouth-watering notes of grapefruit, wild mint, pepper, and ginger, setting the stage for a complex and lively flavour profile. The old vine Savatiano imparts pronounced concentration and an elegant texture, enhanced by three months on fine lees with batonnage.

Finish:
The lingering finish is spicy, long, and fresh, leaving echoes of mineral, citrus, and a dash of wild herbs, inviting another sip and showcasing the distinctive character of high-altitude Greek winemaking.
