Avion Reserva 44 Extra Anejo Tequila is a long-aged expression that represents the highest tier of the Avion range, built around extended maturation and additional finishing. Produced by Avion Tequila in the highlands of Jalisco, it is made from 100% blue Weber agave that is slow-roasted and distilled before being aged in oak barrels for several years. After this initial maturation, the tequila undergoes an additional finishing period of 44 months in specially selected barrels, a process that gives the release its name.
This extended ageing and finishing approach places Reserva 44 firmly within the extra anejo category, where the focus shifts toward how time in wood shapes the spirit. It is produced in smaller quantities compared to the standard expressions, with cask selection playing a key role in determining which barrels are suitable for the additional finishing stage. The release reflects a more modern direction in tequila production, where longer ageing and secondary maturation are used to create a more developed and structured spirit while still maintaining the identity of the agave.
