Description

Description:

Basilisco 'Teodosio', Aglianico del Vulture is a striking expression of southern Italy's famed Aglianico grape, expertly crafted in the heart of the Aglianico del Vulture DOCG. The vineyards, cared for organically and nestled amid olive groves in the volcanic soils of Barile, benefit from high altitude, ample warmth, and meticulous hand-harvesting, producing fruit of outstanding quality. Every element of the terroir-volcanic tuff, mineral-rich clay, and abundant sunshine-contributes to the wine's distinctive character. Created by the visionary winemaker Viviana Malafarina, whose innovative approach has elevated local winemaking practices, this wine is a true celebration of its origins and organic heritage. Fermented and gently macerated in stainless steel to preserve its vibrant fruit character, Basilisco 'Teodosio' is then matured in seasoned French oak barriques, lending polished texture without overwhelming its purity. Certified both organic and vegan, with no animal products used in its production, this wine encapsulates finesse and authenticity, making it a superb choice for discerning wine lovers.

Tasting Notes
Appearance:
Deep garnet with a rich, inviting hue that hints at the wine's depth and concentration.

Nose:
Captivating aromas of sun-dried plum and fresh Morello cherry take centre stage, supported by enticing hints of black liquorice and subtle notes of wild herbs and spice.

Palate:
Full-bodied and impressively concentrated, the palate is layered with intense dark fruit, echoing the plum and cherry found on the nose. A balanced underpinning of freshness imparts remarkable vibrancy, while savoury undertones and ripe tannins build a textured and harmonious structure.

Finish:
The finish is long and satisfying, leaving persistent notes of fruit and spice, woven with a distinctive mineral elegance reflective of the volcanic soils. A wine with true serenity and staying power, it lingers gracefully on the palate, inviting another taste.
