Presented in magnum format (1.5 litres, equivalent to two standard bottles), this expression is the large-format version of Bollinger's non vintage rose Champagne. The increased volume significantly influences maturation, slowing oxidation and allowing the wine to develop greater integration, finer bubbles, and improved balance over time. Produced in Ay in the Champagne region, the blend is dominated by Pinot Noir, typically around 60 percent, supported by Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. Pinot Noir provides structure, depth, and red fruit character, while Chardonnay contributes freshness and acidity, and Meunier adds roundness and approachability.
A defining element of Bollinger rose production is the addition of still red wine, sourced primarily from Grand Cru vineyards such as Ay and Verzenay. This method allows precise control over colour, tannin, and aromatic profile, resulting in a more vinous and structured style compared to saignee methods. Vinification follows Bollinger's traditional approach, with a portion of the base wines fermented in oak barrels. This introduces controlled oxygen exposure, enhancing texture and complexity while preserving the core fruit. Reserve wines are also incorporated into the blend, contributing additional depth and consistency.
Extended ageing on lees develops autolytic characteristics such as brioche, pastry, and nutty notes. In magnum format, this process is more gradual, leading to a finer mousse and more cohesive structure. The result is a Champagne that combines richness with precision. The overall style is powerful yet balanced, with a strong Pinot Noir identity supported by freshness and subtle oak influence. Compared to lighter rose Champagnes, it is more structured and layered, with a profile closer to a vinous, food-oriented style.
