Description

Description:

Magnum format (1.5 litres) alters the way this cuvee develops, slowing maturation and allowing greater integration of fruit, oak influence, and autolytic character. Compared to standard bottle size, the result is a finer mousse and a more cohesive, balanced profile. The blend remains consistent with Bollinger’s house style, built around a majority of Pinot Noir, supported by Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. Fruit is sourced largely from the Montagne de Reims, with reserve wines playing a significant role. Many of these reserves are aged for extended periods, contributing depth and continuity across batches.

Vinification distinguishes this wine from more reductive Champagne styles. A portion of the base wines is fermented in small oak barrels, introducing controlled oxygen exposure and enhancing texture. This method supports a more structured and vinous profile, rather than a purely fresh or citrus driven expression. Each vineyard parcel is vinified separately before blending, allowing precise control over balance and consistency. Extended lees ageing develops secondary characteristics such as brioche, toasted almond, and pastry, while maintaining freshness and definition. In magnum, these elements integrate more gradually. The slower evolution preserves fruit clarity while allowing the wine to gain complexity over time, making this format particularly suited to both immediate drinking and further ageing.

The overall style is structured and layered, with a clear Pinot Noir backbone. It offers more depth and refinement than smaller formats, while retaining balance and precision.
