Carlsberg

Carlsberg was founded in 1847 by the Danish philanthropist and art collector, Jacob Jacobsen. The brewery was named after his son, Carl. Conflict between Jacob and Carl split the brewery into two, New Carlsberg and Old Carlsberg, but the breweries merged when the two reconciled in 1906.

The brewery has grown to become one of the largest in the world, and is responsible for the production of over 500 brands of beer, many of which are major brands in their own countries.
