This is one of those whiskies that quietly wins people over. Made at Deanston in the Highlands, it's a proper single malt with a bit more character than your average easy-drinker. The distillery itself is pretty unique too - it runs on its own hydro power and sticks to traditional methods without much automation.
The whisky is aged in ex-bourbon casks, which gives it a naturally sweet and creamy feel rather than anything too heavy or smoky. You get a mix of cereal, honey, and soft fruit, with just a touch of spice underneath. It's also bottled at 46.3% and left unchill-filtered, so it keeps a bit more texture and flavour than lighter styles. In miniature form, it's a great way to try a proper Highland single malt without diving into a full bottle - especially if you like whiskies that are smooth but still have something going on.
