Description

Description:

Discover the elegance of Santenay 1er Cru Maladiere Rouge, crafted entirely from 100% Pinot Noir grapes sourced from the renowned Cote de Beaune. The Maladiere Climat is positioned mid-slope at 300 to 320 metres altitude, offering a unique terroir shaped by a mix of brown, clay-based soils to the west and limestone-rich grounds to the east. This blend of soils produces wines with remarkable structure and complexity, highlighted further by traditional techniques and long oak ageing. Matured in casks for 12 months after fermentation in oak barrels, this wine captures the pure expression of its premier cru origins, boasting subtlety and authenticity in every glass. Ideal with rack of lamb with a herb crust, beef wellington, game dishes, or mushroom quiche, Santenay 1er Cru Maladiere Rouge is a versatile companion to a range of rich and savoury dishes.

Tasting Notes
Appearance:
The wine pours with an inviting ruby red hue, reflecting the delicacy and vibrancy characteristic of fine Cote de Beaune Pinot Noir.

Nose:
Beautifully expressive on the nose, the bouquet reveals layers of red cherry, blackberry and subtle floral notes, underscored by hints of earthiness, spice, and a gentle touch of oak. Aromatic complexity builds with exposure to air, promising a rewarding tasting experience.

Palate:
On the palate, Santenay 1er Cru Maladiere Rouge strikes a harmonious balance between richness and finesse. The interplay of supple tannins and well-integrated acidity provides structure, while flavours of ripe red fruits, blackcurrant, and wild strawberry dance across the tongue. The combination of clay and limestone subsoils imparts added depth, with background hints of forest floor, spice, and delicate mineral undertones.

Finish:
The finish is long and beautifully layered, with lingering notes of spices and subtle oak, leaving a lasting impression of freshness and elegance. This wine promises not only immediate enjoyment but also the potential to develop further complexity with cellaring.
