FEW Barrel Gin showcases the best of both gin and whiskey. Made using a different botanical base to FEW's standard American Gin expression, this recipe is more heavy on the juniper, with plenty of orange and lemon peel as well as spices. This new gin is then left to mature in small charred American oak barrels for a period of four months, where it takes on some of the colour of the barrel, giving it an amber tint, as well as picking up flavours that are reminiscent of a good whiskey. Spicy aromas of clove and cinnamon, piney juniper notes and some candied citrus. To taste, it is dry with smooth smoky oak notes. More juniper and hints of gingerbread. The oak lingers in the finish. This unique gin can be enjoyed in many of the same ways you might enjoy whiskey, working well as a base for an Old Fashioned. |
