Glenfiddich Winter Storm is the 3rd expression in the Experimental Series. French oak Icewine casks from the Peller Estates winery, in Canada, are filled with different Glenfiddich aged malts for up to six months. Only the rarer whiskies, those aged for 21 years, were found to cope with the extra Icewine intensity. The production of the Icewine that previously filled the French oak casks is particularly precise; the grapes for the Icewine are picked by moonlight at -10°C to produce the intensely sweet Icewine. The result is a taste that's a perfect combination of both Scotch Malt Whisky and Canadian Icewine. The heightened candied sweets and oakiness of Glenfiddich are complemented by mouth-watering tropical fruit notes and a luscious sweetness from the unique Icewine cask finish. Golden in colour. The nose exhibits a bouquet of tropical fruit and candied sweets, perfectly balanced with underlying vinous notes. There are soft sweet notes, reminiscent of candied fruit and Turkish delight, these further develop into flavours of mouth watering lychee. The fusion of sweet flavours is soon met with a rich drying sensation from the Icewine. The finish is both short and crisp. |
