Description:

Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1991 is the fourth limited edition release from the Bond House No.1 collection. It's a collection that captures the creative vision of Glenmorangie's whisky creators and pays tribute to their bonded warehouse.

1991 was a year the folks at Glenmorangie dedicated themselves to furthering the emerging art of wood finishing. The whisky celebrates this pioneering vision. This expression has been aged gracefully for 26 years. It has a rich plum character from two wood whiskies. One being a sweet and spicy liquid, finished in oloroso sherry casks, which is then perfectly married with a bold, earthy whisky finished in burgundy casks. These are further softened by a touch of whisky aged in new toasted oak. The result is a beautifully harmonious expression.

It's mellow, deep, intense and fruity on the nose. There's lots of apricots, plum and baked apple flavours, with chocolate, gentle oak, and a hint of truffles and star anise. Just a splash of water reveals deeper notes, reminiscent of hickory-smoked ham. The slightly peppery mouth-feel leads to a burst of fruit driven flavours intermingled with lots of milk chocolate, stewed appples, plum toghether with ripe, red fruits such as cherry and raspberry. There's a hint of zesty citrus on the finish, followed by a combination of oak, fruit and sweet spices.
