Description

Description:

This is the Rehoboam (4.5L) format of Graham's 20 Year Old Tawny - a serious step up both in scale and presence. The wine itself is a benchmark aged tawny, but in this size it becomes more about occasion and service, often used for large gatherings, restaurants, or high-end gifting. The Port is blended from wines aged for an average of 20 years in seasoned oak casks, which is where its character is formed. Over that time, it moves away from fresh fruit into a more refined, fully integrated profile built on nutty, caramelised, and dried fruit notes. What distinguishes the 20-year style is the balance between maturity and freshness. It has clear development, but still retains enough lift to avoid heaviness, giving a polished, composed feel from the first pour.

In Rehoboam, the wine doesn't age differently before opening, but the format does matter once it's in use:

- Slower oxidation after opening (stays fresh longer)
- Ideal for large-scale service
- Strong visual impact (often presented in wooden cases)

There's also a craftsmanship angle here. Aged tawny Ports are among the most technically demanding styles, requiring long-term blending and careful cask ageing to maintain both delicacy and structure over decades. The overall impression is one of refinement rather than power - everything feels settled, seamless, and complete.
