Description

Description:

Discover the elegance and complexity of Hermitage Monier de la Sizeranne, a celebrated 100% Syrah from France's iconic AOP Hermitage. Crafted by M. Chapoutier, this exceptional red is a harmonious blend of fruit from three distinguished vineyard sites - "les Bessards," "le Meal," and "les Greffieux." Each terroir imparts its unique character, with granitic "les Bessards" providing depth and soul, gravelly "le Meal" lending finesse, and silty "les Greffieux" offering minerality and freshness. The wine undergoes meticulous winemaking, including complete destemming, fermentation in concrete, and 18 months of ageing - primarily in oak barrels, with a portion kept in concrete tanks to preserve minerality. The result is a Hermitage of remarkable balance and undeniable sophistication, perfect for those seeking a memorable red wine experience.

Tasting Notes
Appearance:
Deep and intense in colour, this Hermitage reveals a rich, vibrant hue that captures the eye, hinting at its concentration and vitality.

Nose:
An enticing bouquet of ripe red fruits dominates the nose, with inviting aromas of blackcurrant and raspberry, complemented by a subtle hint of liquorice. Underlying these primary notes are delicate layers of spice, revealing the wine's complexity and promise with every swirl.

Palate:
On the palate, this Syrah is impressively round and elegant. The fruit profile is vivid, featuring flavours of juicy blackcurrant and raspberry, uplifted by a gentle spiciness. The oak influence provides structure, integrating seamlessly to create a silky, well-balanced texture. Young, this wine displays freshness and vibrancy, with its minerality shining through, thanks to careful ageing.

Finish:
The finish is long and refined, showcasing polished tannins and a lingering impression of spice and fruit, leaving a memorable aftertaste that invites another sip. Ideal alongside venison fillet in a rich red wine sauce, this Hermitage is a true testament to both its exceptional terroir and the winemaker's skill.
