Description

Description:

James E Pepper 1776 Straight Rye Whiskey is cut to 92 Proof. It's un-filtered, with a Mash Bill of 95% Rye and 5% Malted Barley. It's aged for 3-4 years and distilled at the Lawrenceburg Distillery in Indiana. Its cut to proof and hand-bottled at the historic James E. Pepper Distillery using water from the local historic limestone well. The brand is named after the legendary Kentucky Colonel James E Pepper, the man who it is said to have invented the Old Fashioned cocktail. The distillery closed in 1958 and fell into disrepair. In 2008 the historic distillery site in Lexington was brough back to life as James Pepper Distilling Co. The brand was launched in 2008, with distilling starting at the site in 2017.

James E Pepper 1776 Straight Rye Whiskey is complex and flavourful, with hints of mint, cloves, eucalyptus, chocolate and honey. It's great neat, on the rocks, or makes for a great Old Fashioned or Manhattan.
