Laurent-Perrier Alexandra Rose 2012 is an exceptionally rare vintage rose Champagne, produced only in years when the house's Pinot Noir and Chardonnay Grand Cru grapes reach perfect maturity at the same time. First launched in 1987, Alexandra Rose has seen only a small number of vintages released, making it one of Laurent-Perrier's most distinctive and sought-after cuvees.
The 2012 vintage combines 80% Pinot Noir from Grand Cru villages in the Montagne de Reims with 20% Chardonnay from the Cote des Blancs, with all of the fruit sourced exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards. Following a challenging start to the growing season, a dry and sunny summer brought the grapes to excellent ripeness, while 10 years of ageing helped develop the wine's richness, complexity and refinement.
Tasting Notes
Nose:
Complex and expressive with crushed strawberry and ripe red fruit aromas, complemented by subtle citrus notes.
Palate:
Rich, warm and generous, with concentrated red fruit flavours carried by a fine, persistent mousse and an elegant underlying freshness.
Finish:
Long and refined, with lingering red fruit and a distinctive touch of bitter orange adding freshness and complexity.
