Description

Description:

The 2005 vintage of Louis Roederer Cristal Champagne has a bright yellow hue with a soft and delicate effervescence. An intense bouquet with sweet, buttery and roasted notes, like vanilla and fresh pastries. The forward notes of mocha and smoke come from the wine's 14 years of bottle age. Soft, integrated and delicate attack. The wine has retained its freshness and elegance as well as the round, juicy character of the 2005 vintage. The palate is structured by a pleasant bitterness. A pure and delicate Cristal, dominated by the Chardonnay, yet showing a poised balance and luscious character.

Background: In 1876, Tsar Alexander II of Russia asked the Roederer family to create an exceptional wine exclusively for him. A masterpiece of perfect balance, this champagne owes much to the terroir in which it is created - limestone subsoils and the concentration of old vines on the Louis Roederer estate it comes from. Presented to the Tsar in a transparent crystal bottle, it was aptly called Cristal. Nicholas II, Alexander II's grandson, paid tribute to the House of Louis Roederer in 1908 by awarding it the label of "Official Supplier to the Court of His Majesty the Emperor of Russia". Since that time, Cristal has borne the Tsar's coat of arms. The epitome of high standards and refinement, Cristal is still a work of art created through passion by Louis Roederer's master craftsmen. The champagne bottle is presented in a Louis Roederer Cristal branded box.
