Louis Roederer Cristal Rose 2008 is as close to perfection as it can possibly be, combining perfect maturity with a crystalline freshness. Bright pink in colour with delicate salmon tints, a soft and even sparkle, filling the glass and giving a slightly creamy appearance. A delicate and subtle bouquet which opens up to reveal soft floral aromas, dried fruit and nuts, slowly giving way to zesty red berry notes. Juicy and fleshy on the palate, given structure by an intense freshness and powdery tannins. An explosion of rich and intense freshness, bringing notes of hazelnut and a powdery mouthfeel. A chalky minerality lingers in the finish with a candied citrus note. Cristal Rose is usually aged for a period of six years in the Roederer cellars before release. For the 2008 vintage, Cellar Master Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon decided to age the wine for a further two years due to the exceptional character of the wine.
Background: In 1974, nearly 200 years after the creation of the Maison Louis Roederer and 100 years after the creation of Cristal, Jean-Claude Rouzaud decided to create Cristal Rosé. To this end, he selected old vine pinot noir grapes, according to specific characteristics, located on the finest of the Aÿ vineyards. The champagne bottle comes presented in a Louis Roederer Cristal Rose branded box. |
