Description

Description:

Pernand-Vergelesses Clos de la Croix de Pierre Blanc is an exceptional white Burgundy crafted exclusively from 100% Chardonnay grapes grown in the prestigious Cote de Beaune. The vineyard, closely neighbouring the renowned premier cru 'En Caradeux', benefits from a south-facing exposition and limestone-rich soils, punctuated by small surface rocks that add a distinctive minerality. Hand-harvested grapes are gently pressed and fermented in fine oak barrels, a third of which are new, enhancing texture and complexity. The wine is then patiently matured on its lees for 15 months before bottling, creating a profile that expertly balances depth, finesse, and freshness. With a reputation for integrating some premier cru elements into its blend, Clos de la Croix de Pierre Blanc stands out as a superb choice for wine enthusiasts seeking quality and character in their Burgundy whites.

Tasting Notes
Appearance:
In the glass, this Chardonnay presents a luminous golden-yellow hue with bright reflections, testifying to its purity and careful oak ageing.

Nose:
The bouquet is inviting and refined, offering nuanced aromas of ripe orchard fruits-such as crisp apple and pear-layered with delicate notes of white blossom, citrus zest, and toasted almond. Subtle hints of flint and chalky minerality add further sophistication.

Palate:
On the palate, this wine is full-bodied and firmly structured, yet elegantly balanced. Expect a vivid interplay of stone fruit, fresh citrus, and nutty undertones, seamlessly integrated with a gentle creaminess from extended lees contact. The precision of acidity and well-judged oak give the wine a harmonious mouthfeel, underscored by fine mineral notes reflecting its unique terroir.

Finish:
The finish is long, clean, and persistent, revealing a refined minerality and refreshing vibrancy that lingers on the palate. This wine pairs beautifully with roast white meats, a range of fish and seafood including sushi and ceviche, as well as vegetable tempura and mature hard cheeses.
