Description

Description:

Quercegobbe by Petra is a distinguished single-varietal Merlot from the picturesque heart of Tuscany, where the Mediterranean climate and the mineral-rich soils of Maremma create the perfect setting for exceptional wine. This wine is a product of meticulous vineyard management-vineyards face the sea on calcareous, iron-rich hillsides with the signature blue clay of the Apennines, which imparts a unique character and underpins the expressive depth of the Merlot. Crafted under the visionary guidance of Petra's winemaking team, this Merlot is vinified in temperature-controlled oak vats and aged for approximately twelve months in a mix of new and used French barriques, ensuring complexity, elegance, and balance in every bottle.

Tasting Notes
Appearance:
Quercegobbe presents a vibrant, deeply hued ruby red in the glass, promising richness and concentration.

Nose:
The bouquet opens with inviting aromas of ripe red fruits, notably black cherries, plums, and blackcurrants. Layers of vanilla and chocolate contribute both sweetness and complexity, while a distinct and well-defined balsamic note weaves through, bringing freshness and sophistication to the nose.

Palate:
On the palate, this Merlot reveals remarkable concentration and depth. Silky tannins wrap seamlessly around a core of luscious fruit flavours, echoing the ripe cherries, plums, and cassis found on the nose. The balanced acidity provides energy and structure, while a savoury mineral note-derived from the unique terroir-adds further intrigue and character.

Finish:
The wine's lengthy finish is elegant and persistent, marked by a lingering balsamic aftertaste that underscores the wine's finesse and the distinctive profile of its Tuscan origins.
