Description

Description:

Produced in Plymouth, England, this gin follows the historic Plymouth style, which is slightly softer and more rounded than a typical London Dry. It is distilled from a neutral grain spirit with a traditional botanical mix, including juniper, coriander, citrus peel, angelica root, and cardamom. The recipe itself is closely guarded and has remained largely unchanged, reflecting continuity with earlier naval-era production. The "Navy Strength" designation refers to a higher bottling strength of 57% ABV (100 proof), a level historically used by the British Royal Navy to ensure that spilled spirit would not prevent gunpowder from igniting. At this strength, the spirit carries a greater concentration of essential oils and flavour compounds, resulting in a more intense and structured profile.

Compared to the standard Plymouth Gin, the higher proof amplifies both aroma and texture, giving the gin more weight and a longer, more pronounced finish. Juniper remains central, but citrus and spice are more vivid, and the overall profile feels fuller and more concentrated. It can be enjoyed diluted to open up its aromatics, or used in cocktails where a stronger gin is needed to maintain balance, particularly in drinks with bold ingredients.
