Description

Description:

Redbreast 12 Year Old Birdfeeder Limited Edition is a special release from the acclaimed Redbreast line, produced at the Midleton Distillery in County Cork, Ireland. Built on the heritage of single pot still Irish whiskey - a style defined by the inclusion of both malted and unmalted barley and triple distillation - this limited edition draws inspiration from Redbreast's classic 12 year old foundation while embracing uniquely selected casks and packaging that celebrate natural heritage. The "Birdfeeder" label nods to themes of nurture and nature, aligning with a thoughtful production ethos that honours fruit complexity, wood influence, and elegant integration of flavours. Bottled at a balanced strength, this expression delivers maturity without weight, combining traditional Irish smoothness with depth and harmony.

Drawing on both ex-bourbon and seasoned sherry casks, this edition showcases how cask selection and ageing can enrich a well-made Irish whiskey. The Birdfeeder release distinguishes itself with nuanced aromatic development and layered depth on the palate, offering an experience that feels refined, expressive, and approachable while still revealing distinct maturity.

Tasting Notes
Appearance
Warm amber with rose gold highlights and a gently viscous, medium-weight body that forms graceful legs.

Aroma
Inviting and complex. Fresh orchard fruits-ripe pear and green apple-lead, followed by rich honeycomb and toasted oak. Secondary notes of candied orange peel, soft baking spice (nutmeg, cinnamon), and gentle dried fruit add depth, with a subtle nutty undertone emerging over time.

Palate
Silky and layered. Sweet orchard fruit opens the palate, evolving into creamy toffee and vanilla custard. Mid-palate reveals warm spice, light citrus pith, and rich dried fruit-fig and sultana-supported by smooth oak tannins. A faint trace of almond and honeyed malt adds further texture, while balanced acidity keeps the profile lively.

Finish
Medium-long and warming, with lingering caramel and fruit sweetness, gentle spice, and a polished oak fade that lingers with refined subtlety.
