First introduced in 1927, this Cognac is one of the defining examples of the Fine Champagne style, meaning it is blended exclusively from eaux-de-vie sourced from Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne crus. These regions are known for producing spirits with strong aging potential and a balance of structure and aromatic finesse. Distillation follows traditional Cognac methods, with wine made primarily from Ugni Blanc grapes double-distilled in copper pot stills. The resulting eaux-de-vie are aged in French oak casks for a minimum of four years, though many components are significantly older, often ranging up to a decade or more.
Blending is central to its identity, with hundreds of individual eaux-de-vie combined to achieve consistency and balance. The house style emphasises harmony between fruit and oak, where maturation contributes vanilla and spice while preserving the underlying grape character. Compared to younger Cognacs, it shows greater integration and depth, while remaining more vibrant and versatile than older XO expressions. The structure allows it to be enjoyed in multiple ways - neat, over ice, or in cocktails - where its balance of fruit and oak can adapt without being lost.
