Rock Rose Gin is named for its signature botanical, Rhodiola Rosea, sometimes known as Rose Root. The first botanical Dunnet Bay Distillers foraged from the local Scottish cliffsides, it has been used since Viking times, when they believed it would give them strength on long journeys. The root brings a distinctive rose aroma and floral character to the gin. It is used alongside two other local botanicals: Sea Buckthorn, which imparts a crisp fruity taste, and Rowan Berries, which bring delicate red berry notes. Classic botanicals including bilberry, cardamon, coriander and verbena bring balance and further complexity to the gin. |
