Description

Description:

A revival of a historic Cognac house dating back to the early 19th century, this expression reconnects with the legacy of the Seignette family, who were active traders in Cognac and salt along the Charente River. The modern release, reintroduced by Sazerac, is designed to reinterpret that heritage in a more contemporary style while retaining traditional production methods. As a VS (Very Special) Cognac, it is aged for a minimum of two years in French oak casks, though blending typically incorporates a range of young eaux-de-vie to achieve balance and consistency. Aging introduces early oak-derived compounds such as vanillin and light tannins, while preserving the freshness of the grape distillate.

The production follows classic Cognac practice, with double distillation in copper pot stills and careful maturation before blending. The resulting profile leans toward a fruit-forward and accessible style, with a focus on clarity and versatility rather than depth from long aging. Compared to heavier or older Cognacs, it is brighter, lighter, and more immediate, making it particularly suited to mixing as well as casual sipping. Its structure reflects a modern interpretation of VS Cognac - clean, balanced, and designed to introduce the category to a wider audience while maintaining a link to traditional craftsmanship.
