Stauning Rye Danish Whisky is a bold, grain-forward expression that showcases the distillery’s hands-on approach and commitment to local production. Made at Stauning Distillery, it uses 100% Danish rye and barley, all grown in the surrounding region. The grain is floor-malted on site - a rare and labour-intensive process - and then distilled in small, direct-fired pot stills, which help create a spirit with weight and character rather than a lighter, more industrial profile. Maturation takes place in new American oak barrels, allowing the whisky to develop structure and depth while highlighting the natural spice of the rye. The relatively active oak brings forward warmth and intensity, while the underlying spirit retains a raw, cereal-driven edge. The whisky is bottled without chill filtration, preserving its full texture and natural oils. Every stage of production - from grain to glass - is carried out at the distillery, reinforcing its identity as a fully handcrafted Danish whisky built on traditional methods and local ingredients.
