Description

Description:

This is a cooler, more structured vintage for Comtes, and that shows in the way the wine holds itself, feeling tighter and more focused compared to softer years, with a stronger sense of line and definition throughout. Made entirely from Chardonnay, it leans into freshness and precision, with less of the rounded feel that comes with warmer vintages or extended age. The citrus and green apple come through clearly, sharper and more direct here, with a hint of lemon zest and a crisp pear note sitting underneath. The opening feels more immediate and slightly more driven, giving the wine a firmer starting point.

On the palate, it moves with a more defined progression, where the acidity carries the structure forward, giving a sense of direction rather than a soft, continuous flow. The fruit stays clean and focused, with less blending into secondary notes at this stage. There is some light pastry and almond in the background, but it remains subtle and not fully integrated yet, sitting just behind the fruit and adding a small amount of depth without softening the wine’s overall profile. The mousse is fine but a bit more energetic, adding to the tension and reinforcing the fresher, more linear style of the vintage. Overall, this is a more precise and structured expression, showing the wine in a tighter, more youthful phase, with clarity and freshness taking the lead over roundness or softness.
