Description:

Taylors Reserve Tawny Port has been created exclusively for this limited edition. It's carefully blended from the finest wood aged Ports selected from Aged Tawny reserves maturing in Taylor's lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia. It has the smooth, rich and mellow flavour that is the hallmark of an Aged Tawny Port. The bottle shape is based on the 'chestnut' shaped wine bottles manufactured in England, between 1715 and 1740. These flagon shaped bottles were relatively unusual in England but their use in continental Europe was more widespread. The bottle design incorporates a glass embossed '4xx' symbol, based on a unique late 17th century sealed bottle, first made at about the same time as the foundation of Taylor's in 1692. It is the earliest example of an intact bottle bearing the merchant's mark. The '4xx' symbol is still used as the Taylor's trademark to this day. A port that is prized by collectors and praised by the critics. The perfect port.

The 'mallet' bottle: The bottle shape is one that became well established in England by around 1730. These bottles were squat in shape, with there sides often tapered towards the shoulder rather than completely straight and parallel. By around 1950, the 'mallet' bottle had developed a more cylindrical form. This Limited Edition bottle is inspired by the 'mallet' cylindrical bottle from that period. It was the immediate predecessor to today's cylindrical wine bottle.

The special bottle come in a wood presentation box.
