Description

Description:

Combining fruit and spice within a flavoured gin framework, this expression builds on a traditional gin base while introducing a layered profile driven by rhubarb and ginger. Produced in England, it reflects a modern approach where post-distillation flavouring is used to achieve clarity and intensity of individual components. The base spirit is a neutral grain alcohol distilled with a core set of botanicals, including juniper, coriander seed, angelica root, and citrus peel. Copper pot distillation is used to produce a clean and structured gin, providing a dry foundation onto which additional flavours are introduced.

Rhubarb and ginger are added after distillation using natural extracts. This method preserves the sharp, slightly tart character of rhubarb and the warm, spicy quality of ginger, both of which would be altered under direct distillation. The rhubarb contributes brightness and acidity, while the ginger adds depth and a mild heat. A measured level of sweetness is incorporated to balance the tartness of the rhubarb and the spice of the ginger. The interaction between these elements creates a profile that moves between fresh, fruity notes and gentle warmth. Juniper remains present but secondary, acting as a structural base rather than the dominant flavour.

Blending is carefully controlled to ensure that the fruit and spice elements integrate without overpowering each other. Water used for dilution is treated to maintain consistency and clarity in the final product. The overall style is more complex than single-fruit expressions, offering both brightness and spice within a smooth and accessible structure. It sits firmly within the flavoured gin category while retaining a recognisable gin base.
