Description

Description:

Drambuie is a legendary Scottish whisky liqueur with roots that trace back to the 18th century and the romantic lore of Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie).  According to tradition, the recipe was gifted to the MacKinnon clan after the Battle of Culloden in 1746 and later refined into the spirit we know today. Its name derives from the Scottish Gaelic phrase "An Dram Buidheach", meaning "the drink that satisfies". Crafted from aged Scotch whisky, heather honey, aromatic herbs, and spices, Drambuie balances Highland heritage with smooth, golden richness. Officially commercialized in the late 19th century, it has since become an iconic component in classic cocktails like the Rusty Nail, while also standing confidently on its own as a premium after-dinner liqueur.

Tasting Notes
Appearance
Rich golden amber with burnished copper tones and a smooth, slightly viscous texture that clings gently to the glass.

Aroma
Expressive notes of heather honey, orange peel, and soft Scotch whisky malt rise first, followed by hints of herbal botanicals, warm spice, and a delicate touch of vanilla.

Palate
Silky and layered. Sweet heather honey leads, unfolding into flavors of candied citrus, saffron-like spice, subtle anise, oak, and mellow malt whisky warmth. The sweetness is beautifully balanced by herbal complexity and gentle spirit heat.

Finish
Long, warming, and elegantly spiced, with lingering honeyed richness, light herbal notes, and a smooth whisky glow that fades gradually.
