Red Spot 15 Year Old Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey is a revival of a historic expression within the Spot range, originally bottled by the Mitchell family wine merchants in Dublin. Produced at Midleton Distillery, it follows the traditional single pot still method, using a mash of malted and unmalted barley before triple distillation. The whiskey is matured in a combination of bourbon barrels, sherry casks, and Marsala wine casks, a mix that reflects both historical practice and a more modern approach to cask selection. The reintroduction of Red Spot after decades of absence was part of a broader effort to restore the full Spot lineup, with each colour representing a different age and style. The 15 Year Old sits between Yellow Spot and Blue Spot, offering a longer maturation period and a distinct cask profile shaped in part by the use of Marsala casks. Production remains focused on maintaining the identity of the Spot range while allowing each expression to highlight different maturation influences within the single pot still category.
