Tanqueray

Tanqueray gin was first distilled in 1830 by Charles Tanqueray in London. A newcomer to the industry, Tanqueray was just in his early 20s when he first created the recipe for his Tanqueray Gin, making it all the more impressive that his recipe is still used in the creation of his gin over 180 years later.

The distillery operated until World War II, when it was sadly destroyed in the air raids. Fortuitously though, one of the stills nicknamed "old tom" survived relatively intact and continues operation producing Tanqueray in its new home in Scotland to this day.

Tanqueray is one of the best-selling gin brands in the US today, and legend tells that it was the first drink in the White House after the repeal of prohibition.
