Matusalem

Matusalem was founded in 1872 by Benjamin and Eduardo Camp, a pair of Spanish brothers who headed to Cuba to set up a rum distillery. They brought with them knowledge of the solera aging system, often used in the creation of Spanish brandies and sherries. The name, chosen in reference to this aging process, derives from the Biblical patriarch who was said to have lived for 969 years and appears in the popular Spanish expression "Mas viejo que Matusalem," meaning "Older than Methuselah."

Matusalem today is still owned by the same family who carry on the traditions and expertise of generations before them.
