Lanson

Lanson is one of the oldest and most distinctive Champagne houses, a producer whose identity is built on freshness, precision, and a steadfast loyalty to traditional methods. Founded in 1760 in the city of Reims, Lanson predates many of Champagne's most famous maisons and has spent centuries refining a style that privileges vibrant fruit, lively acidity, and remarkable clarity over weight or overt richness.

A defining feature of Lanson's philosophy is its historic avoidance of malolactic fermentation for many of its wines. By preserving the naturally bright malic acidity of the grapes, the house achieves a Champagne profile that feels particularly crisp, energetic, and age-worthy. This technical choice, maintained across generations, gives Lanson a recognizable signature-one that stands apart in a region where softer, creamier textures are often the norm.

The house is also closely associated with Pinot Noir-driven structure, drawing fruit from a wide network of carefully selected vineyards across the Montagne de Reims and beyond. This contributes depth and backbone while still allowing citrus, orchard fruit, and delicate floral notes to shine. Extended cellar aging further refines the wines, integrating mousse and flavor into a poised, elegant whole.
